PDF Lossless Compressor
Browser-only PDF optimizer
Lossless only · no fake “90% smaller” promises

Compress PDF files without intentionally changing page content

This tool tries honest, lossless PDF optimization in your browser. It can rewrite the PDF structure and optionally strip metadata, but it does not intentionally downsample images or degrade page quality. That means the results are real — and sometimes modest.

What this tool actually does

Lossless PDF compression is mostly structural cleanup. It can remove some overhead from how a PDF is packaged, and it can optionally clear metadata fields that add a bit of weight.

It is not the same as lossy PDF compression. If you want huge file-size cuts, most tools get there by re-encoding images, rasterizing pages, or lowering quality. This tool deliberately avoids that.

So the savings vary a lot. Some PDFs shrink meaningfully. Some shrink a tiny bit. Some were already optimized before they reached you and won’t improve much at all.

Plain-English expectation setting

If a site promises dramatic PDF compression with zero quality loss on every file, be skeptical. In practice, true lossless optimization has limits.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really lossless?⌄

Yes. The goal is to preserve page appearance and avoid intentional quality loss. The tool rewrites the PDF and can remove metadata, but it does not intentionally downsample images or rasterize pages.

Why did my PDF barely shrink?⌄

Because many PDFs are already well optimized. Lossless cleanup has hard limits. If most of the file size comes from embedded images or fonts that are already compressed efficiently, there may not be much left to save.

Can the optimized file ever be larger?⌄

Yes, occasionally. Rewriting a PDF can slightly change how objects are stored, and not every file benefits. That’s why this tool shows the before-and-after size first so you can decide whether to keep the new file.

Does my file get uploaded?⌄

No. Compression runs in your browser. Your PDF stays local to your device during processing.
